Kirill Karabits

At the start of the 2009/10 season Kirill Karabits began his four-year tenure as principal conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. In recognition of his work, he was shortlisted for a Royal Philharmonic Society award in the conductor category in 2010.

In much demand as a guest conductor, his future engagements include a return to the Philharmonia Orchestra, an appearance at the Bath Mozartfest with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and at the Snape Proms at Aldeburgh with the Britten-Pears Orchestra. Other highlights include concerts with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg, the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic and Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestras, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona and an appearance at the Berlin Konzerthaus. He made his debut with the Bamberger Symphoniker at the Kissinger Sommer Festival with Vadim Repin in June 2010, and will also return to the orchestra for a subscription concert in the following season. Following his North American debut with Houston Symphony Orchestra in March 2009, future appearances in the United States include concerts with the Minnesota, San Francisco and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras and the National Symphony Orchestra, Washington. He also returns to Japan in autumn 2010 to make his debut with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.

As an opera conductor, Karabits will make his debut with English National Opera with Don Giovanni in autumn 2010. This will be followed by a return to Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 2012.
